World Heritage Initiative Project Meeting

A meeting was held at the Grand View Convention Centre to update stakeholders on the progress of the UNESCO Chiang Mai World Heritage Initiative Project. The participants included Government and Municipal representatives, professional groups such as Chiang Mai University, local architecture organizations and city planners as well as local businesses supporting this project. Prof. Dr. Woralun Boonyasurat, the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, who also holds the position as chairperson of the Chiang Mai Historical Site Conservation and Development Project for the World Heritage Model Action Plan, welcomed delegates and guests. The project is in it’s first phase of a ten year program; collecting data in order to prepare a dossier for submission of application to UNESCO.
