Press Conference for New Years Eve Celebrations

A press conference for New Years Eve Celebrations was held at Three Kings Monument, attended by Vice Governor of Chiang Mai PutipongSirimatya, Chiang Mai Mayor Tassanai Buranupakorn and Tourism of Authority (Chiang Mai) Director Wisut Buachum.   This year’s official celebrations will be centered on Three Kings Monument, instead of the usual Thapae Gate, in remembrance of His Majesty  the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The celebrations start on December 31 from 6pm with Thai Drum performances. 7.50pm performances for His Majesty. 8.20pm Prince and Princess Beauty Contest. 8.50pm prayers for His Majesty. 9.05pm CU Chamber Orchestra. 10pm Lanna Songs. 11pm  Jazz Songs of King. 11.45pm Lighting of Candles and Countdown to the New Year. On 1 January 2017 there will be Lanna and cultural performances from 7pm until midnight.   Chiang Mai Mayor Tassanai Buranupakorn told Citylife ‘There will be no official firework displays or Komloy Releases. Hotels and restaurants will be permitted to release Komloys in the Muang District providing they have relevant permission from the Sheriffs Office’.
