Bharat Ratna Remembered at the Consulate of India

Consulate of India in Chiang Mai celebrated the life and music of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Lata Mangeshkar by holding an event ‘faili rahengi sapnon ki bahen…’. Consul Krishna Chaitanya paid glowing tributes to the singer who passed away on Feb 06 at the age of 92 by saying that with her singing she gave voice to the aspirations, dreams, imaginations and emotions of an emergent nations post-independence. Sangeeta, a new discovery, was a sensation with rendition of two of her famous songs. Shyam Arora presented a specially curated visual presentation including a life sketch of the singer, her famous interviews, and clips of her selected songs. Chai N Thai put up a photo exhibition on the singer who is regarded as “The Nightingale of India”. Earlier the Consulate had its National Flag fly at half mast as India observed two day (06-07) state mourning.
