CityNews – On March 6th, the army along with 300 residents of Chiang Dao joined forces to create semi-permanent weirs to damn Mae Kiang Stream, a small stream which flows into the Ping River near its source.

Due to the current drought, water levels are now too low for pumps to be used effectively, it was therefore decided that four weirs would be created to store enough water to raise levels.

This is part of HM the King’s water management initiatives.

Authorities assure us all that there is enough water for consumption, though the agriculture sector will be hugely affected this year due to shortage.
