CityNews – Police rounded-up over 60 suspected criminals this week in time for the water summit taking place at the Chiang Mai Convention Centre.
On 17th May, at 12 p.m. Chiang Mai province and Police Region 5 held a press conference discussing security at Chiang Mai during the 2nd Asia – Pacific Water Summit. Previously, Chiang Mai Provincial Police, Police Region 5, Chiang Mai Immigration Police, Chiang Mai Tourist Police, Patrol Police Station, arrested the suspects and seized 34,000 amphetamine pills, 30 guns, 1,000 bullets, 10 million baht in cash and 10 motorcycles from 15th – 17th May.
Police Lieutenant General Suthep Detraksa, the commander of Police Region 5, told the press that the officers had had focused on areas close to the hotels where delegates attending the conference were staying.
