Police have been out in force over the past few days, especially within the city moat, as part of their efforts to help ensure the easing of restrictions does not lead to any increase in crimes.

According to Pol. General Phichet Jeeranantasin, commander of Chiang Mai provincial police, this was simply a preventative measure to help reassure the public that law and order will be respected as people come out of self-quarantine. He said that while any problems have so far been minor, and involving minors, it is best to make sure that everyone knows that the law is constant and must be respected.

To that end, ten check points have been set up around the city and teams of police will be checking into various night entertainment venues to make sure that they are not selling alcohol to minors (20 years old) and not after 11pm at night.
