This morning Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-Cha visited the Nam Bua Tong National Park (sticky waterfall to many local expats) in Mae Taeng, along with the minister of interior to officiate over a national tree planting project which will begin simultaneously in all 77 provinces, but will have its main focus on Chiang Mai. He was joined by a bevy of generals and politicians. The group was greeted by around one thousand volunteers.

Governor Charoenrit Sanguansat gave a welcoming speech to the dignitaries where he wished His Majesty the King a happy upcoming birthday.

The PM urged all Thai citizens to begin to plant more trees, especially, he said, the 58 types of ‘economically valuable trees’ which the government spokesperson last week said will now be able to be used as collateral when applying for loans at financial institutions under a new policy.

This extraordinary policy was proposed by the Ministry of Commerce as a measure to help people gain access to financial aid and promote the growing of economically valuable trees in communities,” the spokeswoman said on Saturday 18th July referring to the Forest Plantation Act BE 2563.
