CityNews – 19th October 2019, Niyom Termsrisook, secretary-general of Narcotics Control Board, has issued an order to assign around 60 people from the Chang Phueak Police Station, Narcotics Control Board, Cultural Council of Chiang Mai, and other departments to monitor and maintain order around two entertainment business areas of Chiang Mai:

  1. 12 Huay Kaew area, urine samples of suspected tourists were checked but no narcotics were found.
  2. The Zeed Karaoke, urine samples of 12 staff of the restaurant were checked, no narcotics found.

Entertainment business properties were stressed to follow the law and not to let juveniles under 20 years old enter their places of business.  Authorities will monitor closing times, and do spot checks for drugs. This effort is to support the policy of PM Prayuth Chan-O-Cha and Somsak Thepsuthin (Justice Minister) to urgently stop the spread of narcotic drugs in Thailand.
