He is now suffering from memory loss and severe physical pain which restricts his mobility following a motorcycle accident. Unanswered questions regarding his disappearance are now circulating, with family members wondering how he has been surviving after the accident, especially since it seems he has been in and out of hospital.
Two of Hansford’s employers in Bangkok, Adam Smith International and Asian Development Bank, said that he was not in Cambodia doing contract work for them, and had last heard from him in December. It is still a possibility that Hansford was working for clients in Cambodia at the time he went missing.
