Yesterday police received a 191 call following an incident of attempted rape.
On arrival at the Mae Hia market, police found that concerned citizens had already caught and detained a man.
It was later learned that this man is a Myanmar national who had been selling chicken in the market for some time.
He confessed that he had long had a crush on this young 15 year old girl working in a shop in the market and that day he saw that she was alone so he went into the shop and pretended to be a customer. He said that he couldn’t contain his lust and tried to rape her.
Thankfully the victim’s cries were loud enough that people nearby heard her and came to her rescue.
