CityNews – Police and rescue workers were called to a lake at Nong-U-Bosot Temple in San Sai District at 9am on the 20th January. On arrival they were told that there was a missing person who was suspected to have drowned in the pond.

According to reports, Prathip Chaikheeree, 65, had been suffering from multiple health problems which had caused him great stress. He left a suicide note to his family apologising for what he was about to do and asking permission to die. He also wrote his intentions of going to commit suicide at the temple. When his wife found the note she immediately alerted the police and they went to the lake in question, only to find his flip-flops on its banks. Rescue divers eventually found his body five to six metres from shore and say that he had been dead for three to our hours.
