Mae Canal Cleanup Event Planned for Feb 4th

CityNews – An activity to revive the Mae Kha Canal has been arranged to co-inside with the Chiang Mai Flower Festival to help raise awareness of the natural surroundings of Chiang Mai and how to care for them.

Assoc Prof Dr Wasan Jompakdee, the President of Committee for Protection of Mae Ping and Environment, announced on February 1st that he will be hosting an activity to clear up the Mae Kha Canal named “Hom Poi Mae Kha Ngam”.

The event invites all Chiang Mai residents and visitors to help clear the banks of the Mae Kha Canal on February 4th at 9am, during the Chiang Mai Flower Festival.

The activity is a collaboration between the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning Chiang Mai Office, Regional Irrigation Office 1, Chiang Mai Municipality, institutions and volunteers. The cleanup will start from Wat Sri Don Chai Pier. There will also be a flower parade that aims to raise awareness of the importance of canals in Chiang Mai.
