On the 7th June a 69 year old woman was reported lost in the forest, launching a massive 150-person search party which has been ongoing for the past four days.

Amporn Takham, 69, was reported missing by her family on the evening of the 7th June. She had gone into the forests of Long Kod, Phrao, to hunt gather mushrooms and vegetables and had failed to return home as usual at the end of the day. The forest she disappeared into is eight square kilometres and a team of 150 people spent four days searching it, to no avail.

At 5am this morning Amporn walked into her house, to the shock and joy of her family. She returned with a sack-full of vegetables she had collected, but was very exhausted.

Once alerted to her return, rescue workers took her to hospital to check on her condition.

Villagers credit her miraculous return to a religious ceremony they held during her absence where monks prayed for her safety. They are calling this a miracle and thank the forest for opening up and allowing her back.
