CityNews – 17th March 2020, the economic effects of this current crisis is going to be felt for a long time. And for many the pinch is already stinging. That is why CityNews was pleased to find that many dormitories and apartments, especially those which cater to students, are already offering discounts and payment plans.

“We have always had a policy where hard-up students can do time payment or have discounts in times of hardship,” said Tonsorn Tonpitak, 34, owner of Suthee Place, PhuDao Place, PhuTawan Place, PhuSakThong Place and Umong Place. “Now we have formalised this policy and announced it so that everyone fully understands.”

“We are being contacted by many parents who are really struggling to pay their students’ dorm fees now,” he continued. “They say that their clients aren’t paying them, that they are running out of cash, and so we have to help however we can.”

Some customers are paying as little as 20% of their rental fees at this time and Tonsorn, along with other kind landlords, say that they are willing to continue to offer such discounts and help as long as they can.
