Ice Skating Rink launches weekly party

CityNews – October 12th, 2019, A night party at the ice skating rink was held at Central Festival for the first time. The party was held between 8 pm to 10 pm, charging 200 baht inclusive of entrance fee and rental shoes. A DJ, ice skating show, food, and drinks added to the vibe and the event was aimed at reaching out to the people of Chiang Mai, to get them to come and join in future activities, as the ownership of the rink has recently changed and the new owners are looking to put the rink back on the Chiang Mai map.

According to Ice Skate Club Chiang Mai, this weekly event is planned to be held every Saturday from now on with the hopes of raising people’s awareness of ice skating to make it popular in Chiang Mai as a place to bring friends and the entire family.

Josh Sherman, who is one of the coaches in the ice skating team in Chiang Mai, said that Thailand is very different from the U.S. and Canada in terms of the popularity of ice skating, but yet he still believes there is great potential for more Thais to enjoy the sport.
