Governor orders Chiang Dao to find solution to spreading of hotspots

CityNews – Chiang Mai Governor orders Chiang Dao district to add personnel and step up urgency in combatting all the hotspots which seem to occur in the same area over and over again.

2nd March 2020, governor Charoenrit Sanguansat made an urgent order to all sub districts in Chiang Dao district to step up efforts to combat burning in the area. According to today’s 2am satellite images, there were a total of 221 hotspots across 18 of Chiang Mai’s districts. Yesterday there were only 131 hotspots, so today’s numbers were very alarming. The district with the highest number of hotspots was Chiang Dao where there were 33.

A team of volunteers are currently working with Circle 33 army personnel to patrol jungle areas for illegal forest fire starters and also checking all known entry areas into national parks for poachers and other possible mischief makers.
