After a spate of early morning gas tank thefts, police arrested an unemployed man from Buri Ram. The case was investigated by the Chang Phuak police, who issued the arrest warrant on 1st September and tracked 31-year-old Thawat down to his house.
The offender confessed to riding around the village in the early hours of the morning, usually between 3 am – 5 am, surveying houses, apartments and grocery stores to find locations where it was easy to steal gas canisters. He admitted that he had done this many times and at least 3 times since the investigation started in the Chang Phuak area.
He stated that he committed the offenses because he was unemployed and had no money.
The case is now proceeding to court.
