CityNews – A sign that was causing confusion on route 212 was corrected by Chiang Mai Highway District 2 on June 10th. The original sign, that appeared on Liapkhlong Chonglaphrathan road about 700 metres before Ton Payom market, directed motorists toward “Amphur Choeng Doi,” meaning Choeng Doi District, which does not exist.

The sign post provides directions to four different places, Mea Teang, Mea Rim, Choeng Doi and Maharaj Hospital. Choeng Doi is a village, not a district, and the sign should have read “Ban Choeng Doi,” instead. Some residents began to take photos of the sign and post them online.

Highway District 2 corrected the sign to read “Ban Choeng Doi” on June 10th and apologized for any confusion it may have caused.

Teerapong Kajorndechakun, Chiang Mai Highway District 2’s Vice President of Engineering stated that they noticed the mistake last week, but were delayed waiting for copyright stickers that were being sent from Sisaket Province.
