Doi Inthanon fire now out

CityNews – 5th March 2020, reports of fires on Doi Inthanon caused great concern over the past 24 hours, but authorities say that they have been extinguished.


Kritsiam Kongsri, Director of Doi Inthanon National Park in Chom Thong District announced that the fire in question was not on Doi Hua Sua as widely circulated, but was on Doi Hang Phee a few kilometres away, which is an area which has been under close management in terms of fire prevention and control.

In spite of social media photos of the fire which appeared to be very alarming, the director assured the public that it was in fact not a large fire and was only burning in spots which were controllable. It is believed that the fire is at this point completely put out, but staff are monitoring the situation closely.

According to the PM 2.5 command centre in Chiang Mai, there are a total of 118 hotspots today across Chiang Mai. According to the four AQI check spots across town, Chiang Mai’s air today is at a normal level.
