People gathered around the city, including the roof of Central Festival, where the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) had set up an observation deck.

During the partial eclipse, smoke clouds blocked a clear view for over 15 minutes.

According to reports, people in Chiang Mai were only able to see around 27% of the eclipse clearly during times the smog dispersed.
