Chiang Mai joins 15 stranded Ukrainians in fundraising

Just under a week before Vladimir Putin’s army invaded Ukraine, fifteen young Ukrainian programmers arrived in Chiang Mai. They were brought here to work on a joint French-Ukrainian project at Yellow, an incubator and co-working space populated mostly by those working in the crypto/blockchain industry set in the heart of Nimmanhaemin.

These young programmers, developers and their partners were caught, along with the world, off-guard by the conflict, and are now here in Chiang Mai for the foreseeable future.

Yellow has committed to supporting the Ukraine cause and together with Craig Parkin, an American expatriate who is an occasional visitor to Yellow, they decided this week to host a fundraiser.

The evening at Craig’s magnificent riverside home, 88 Place, was spectacular with an attendance of over 60 people. Monies raised will be sent to non-military aid in Ukraine and Yellow and Craig will be making an announcement in the coming days as to how much was raised and where it will be sent.

Visit Yellow for more info and updates as to how you can help and where the funds will go.
