Chiang Mai back on top of the world pollution charts

CityNews – 19th March 2020, pollution levels in Chiang Mai are currently beyond hazardous, mainly following the days-long fire that has been raging across the foothills of Doi Suthep-Pui national park. This is military land, near Huay Tung Tao lake in Mae Rim.


200 fire fighters have been working to contain the fire, which destroyed 150 of land until it was finally controlled last night.

According to AirCMI, PM2.5 levels reached the unacceptable number of 530 micrograms per square metre which has put Chiang Mai at the top of the world for pollution levels.
