CityNews – Mae Rim Elephant Camp launches what could become a controversial new activity for tourists, an Elephant Foot Spa.

Tourists to the camp are invited to use a hose to spray the foot of 50 year old Moja, cleaning her nails as part of a bathing activity of elephants for tourists. Tourists have long been bathing elephants at various camps, but this camp takes the experience to another level by offering mud spas, herbal treatments and helping to do manicures on elephants feet – filing and clipping.

The camp’s vet explained that elephants’ feet are often in bad shape because of their walks in the jungle and he wishes tourists to understand and learn about elephant care.
