Burning Ban from March 1st to April 30th

CityNews – The no-burning period is set from March 1st to April 30th.

The governor of Chiang Mai, Supachai Iamsuwan has announced that burning in the open air is strictly banned from March 1st to April 30th. Those who report on any burning will be rewarded. The local authorities will reportedly concentrate on pollution from construction and industrial sites, while Chiang Mai Municipality has started to spray water around the moat to moisten the air. The municipality is planning on increasing the frequency of water spraying to twice a day, from 6 – 8am and 6 – 8pm, if the haze increases.

The authorities also held a rally at Tha Pae Gate today, February 14th campaigning for all citizen to collaborate in remedying this issue.
