CityNews – 20th April 2020, last night the governor of Chiang Mai, on hearing of a stranded tourist who had been spending days sleeping at Chiang Mai International Airport, ordered her to be assisted immediately.

The director of the airport was first alerted to this matter on the 14th when he heard that an English lady had been sleeping at the airport. Apparently the woman worked on line but her revenue stream dried up leaving her stranded with no money.

She had already been in talks with the embassy in Bangkok, according to the director of the airport, but had said that she preferred to wait until she received transferred funds in Chiang Mai as she felt it was safer than to travel to Bangkok. Airport staff had been assisting her with water and food and showers, keeping an eye on her to make sure that she is safe and well while she spends her days working online.

However, when the governor of Chiang Mai heard about this matter last night he helped liaise with 24 Guest House who have kindly offered to take her in at no charge.
