Stressed Volunteer Defense Corps Shot Himself to Death

CityNews – January 17th, the police were called to a house in Chiang Dao District to investigate a scene of death. When the police arrived to the scene, they found the body of Jamlong Wongngam, 57, a Defense Corps volunteer who died in his bedroom by gunshot to his head.

According to his wife, Sukanya Wongngam, Jamlong had eaten a dinner with his family then retired to his bedroom to rest. Shortly after he entered the bedroom the family as well as neighbours heard the sound of a gun fired.

The family said that he had been suffering from depression for a while due to numerous ailments and diseases he was battling and that friends, family and neighbours had been offering him encouragement and support the entire time. They had not realised how serious his depression was.

His body has been sent for further autopsy, but initial reports was that he died from a self inflicted gunshot wound from a 9mm gun.
