Thanya said that the smoke problems has begun to affect nine areas of Northern Thailand, and that PM10 levels have already began reaching dangerous levels.

This year, the risk of wildfires is even higher than previous years due to the ongoing drought.

Last year, Phrae, Lampang and Lamphun were affected by wildfires, sending PM10 levels rocketing.

However, he also commended the local authorities for keeping an eye on the problems and acknowledged their efforts to reduce the smoke levels.
