Korrawig Thimaket, 18, and Thanwa Seesai, 21, were arrested on October 15 after allegedly snatching a bag from a Chinese tourist while riding a motorbike on Phrapokkao Road Soi 13. The tourist fell over and was injured when her bag was snatched.

Police identified the pair after studying CCTV footage, and arrested them at an internet cafe in the Santitham area.

The suspects confessed to snatching bags on more than 10 occasions around Chiang Mai, saying they needed the money to pay for their online gaming.

They mostly targeted foreign tourists because they are often careless and carry valuable items with them, they said. The suspects will be prosecuted.
