Nik Loilong, originally from Chai Nat province, confessed that he had tricked around 10 women in this way. He befriended them using fake Facebook accounts, then offered them between 20,000 and 40,000 baht each to send him photos of themselves naked.

Instead of paying them, he used the photos to blackmail the women into stripping while he watched on Skype and masturbated. He was arrested after one woman complained to Chiang Mai police, who also seized mobile phones, hard drives and computer hardware.

Nik, who was arrested on Monday, works in Chiang Mai for the Channel One television station. The case is now before the courts. Police urged members of the public to beware of such scams.
