CityNews – Foreigners who have overstayed their visas still have time to avoid being put on a blacklist and barred from re-entering the country, according to the Immigration Bureau.
A notice on its website says the new regulation is still in the process of being approved by the Ministry of Interior.
The current overstay penalty – a fine of 500 baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht – is still in effect, Thaivisa.com reported.
It advised those who have overstayed to clear the matter as soon as possible and obtain a relevant visa at a Thai consulate or embassy in a neighbouring country.
