Two men arrested for illegal wildlife trading

Police in Chiang Mai have announced that they have coordinated with authorities from the Forestry Department to arrest illegal wildlife traders in Chiang Mai’s Sankampaeng District.

According to police reports, multiple birds, including six red-whiskered bulbuls, 28 Chinese francolins and one barred buttonquail, were found in cages, along with hunting equipment in the homes of a 61 year old man. 
On the same day another raid netted a further 17 Chinese francolins, one sooty-headed bulbul, one red-whiskered bulbul, one white-crusted laughing thrush and one greater green leafbird in a separate raid in Mae On District. 
 
Police also found remains of a python and many other animals, arresting a 65 year old man. 
 
According to police, the raid was conducted following a report by neighbours.
