Train Comes Off Tracks in Lamphun

CityNews – January 6th, at around 2.45am, a train transporting Diesel fuel from Saraburi province came off the rails and crashed around 200 metres before stopping neart the Nong Lom Train Station in Lamphun.

The destination of the train was Chiang Mai.

The fuel leaked from 5 out of 13 tanks, which contained 30,000-litres of Diesel fuel each.

The damages have been initially estimated to be in the tens of millions of baht.

One train station employee, aged 26, was injured by rocks that were scattered by the train coming off the tracks. He was sent to hospital.

The cause of the accident is believed to due to the train’s poor condition.
