The vehicle was parked in the car park of the Kamtiang branch in Muang district when the theft occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

Reporter Jettana Muanglue, who covers Chiang Mai for the Thairath newspaper and Thairath TV, told police he had parked there while he conducted an interview.

He went into the shopping mall, taking only a digital video camera with him, and left other items in the car. When he returned at around 1.40pm, he discovered that a Lenovo laptop, a Nikon D7000 digital camera with a set of lenses and around 5,000 baht in cash had been stolen.

The 48-year-old Mae Hia resident called police, who believe the thief picked the lock to gain entry to the car.
