Thai Supermodel Convicted of Cocaine Smuggling

CityNews – Former supermodel  Chatchaya Cuesta Ramos, a Thai citizen, was apprehended on 10th  November 2012, at Don Mueang airport.

According to customs officials, she was found to have a quarter of a gram of cocaine in her purse –251 milligrams to be exact – when she flew home from Vietnam.  The substance was in her purse, leading to her being charged with smuggling a banned narcotic substance.  

She has been sentenced to serve 15 years behind bars, as well as facing a hefty fine of 1,500,000 baht, by a court in Min Buri.

She was simultaneously sentenced to an extra 3 months imprisonment for importing banned wildlife products.
