A total of 665 packs of heroin were found in secret compartments of a truck at a Burmese checkpoint opposite Chiang Rai’s Mae Fa Luang district. The truck was carrying bags of cement.

The haul had a street value of 70 million baht in Myanmar and 10 times that much in Thailand, the report said. The three arrested men were Burmese nationals.

Burmese soldiers and Thai anti-narcotics agents have been conducting joint operations against drug trafficking on the border.
