Tambon Suthep Celebrates 137th Anniversary of Kruba Sri Vichai’s Birth

CityNews – Wat Srisoda Pra-a-ram Laung, Doi Suthep Foundation, Chiang Mai Probation office, the village chief club, Kruba Srivichai Fund and Chiang Mai Residents came together to celebrate the religious ceremony in memory of Kruba Sri Vichai, at the Kruba Sri Vichai monument on Doi Suthep Road.

On the 11th June at 6.09 am, Chiang Mai Sangha Abbot Phra Thep Kosol and Governor Suriya Prasartbandit opened the event marking the 137th Anniversary of Kruba Srivichai’s Birth.  The ceremony included prayers, merit making, and giving alms to 11 monks. This year is the 40th celebration of Kruba Srivichai’s Birth in Tambon Suthep.

Meanwhile, Chiang Mai Probation Office led a team of volunteer probation officers planting trees as a part of the forest restoration project, to “Worship Kruba Srivichai, and preserve Huay Kaew.”

Kruba Srivichai was the monk who spearheaded the construction project of the road up to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. He was born on 11th June 1878 in Lamphun and passed away on 20th February 1938 at the age of 60.
