CityNews – A Chiang Mai property developer is suing well-known lukthung singer Cholada Thongchunklang and two others for fraud, saying he wants them to return eight Buddha statues worth more than 500,000 baht.

Sakulkiert Maneesawang has filed a lawsuit against the singer, whose stage name is Takkatan Cholada, and the other two defendants.
He claims Cholada and her manager, Benjawan Ribjam, were shareholders in a housing development known as the ‘Cholada Lanna Life’ project that was started by him and his wife in 2009.
Sakulkiert and his wife later withdrew from the project, and he says he was denied entry when he returned to collect the statues. The current project manager, Thanakorn Turakijrungruang, refused to let him in, saying he was taking orders from Cholada and Ribjam.
Sakulkiert filed a complaint against the three at Chiang Mai provincial police station last month, and said he is able to provide photographic evidence of his ownership of the statues.
Cholada failed to attend a scheduled meeting on Sunday, and the parties are now due to meet for negotiations on September 8.
