‘Retired’ Russian Mafioso Boss Caught up with in Chon Buri

CitiNews – A mafia boss has been arrested in front of a supermarket in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district, police said on Wednesday, 25 June.  He is wanted in his native Russia for many violent crimes, including murder, extortion, abduction and grievous bodily harm.

Alexander Matusov (52), a member of the notorious ‘Chevko’ gang, is a dual passport holder, and has used both Russian and Armenian passports to enter the Kingdom.  He was also found in possession of a fake passport.

The Russian police issued have arrest warrants for Mr Matusov and dating back to 1995.  In 1996 he was accused of murdering four members of a rival gang.  He first entered Thailand in 2009.

Matusov is being held by the Thai prison service pending deportation to his homeland, for trial and sentencing, said Pol Gen Wut Liptapanlop.
