CityNews – According to Nuengruethai Tantiplubthong, director of the Northern Royal Rainmaking Operation Centre, a total of seven rainmaking flights were assigned to help encourage rainfall in the Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Mae Hong Son and Phayao areas on October 27.
Due to the continuing drought in many areas of Thailand, Royal Rainmaking Operation Centres across the country have continued to generate rainfall. However, new action plans have been put into place to speed up the process, reducing the time it takes for flights to be chartered.
Now flights will take less than 24 hours to take to the skies when a zone has been certified as suitable for rainmaking.
Despite the low rainfall this year, the Thai Meteorological Department announced on October 22 that winter has come to Thailand.
