Police Bicylce Patrols Begin

CityNews – After much planning, Chiang Mai police have finally launched their bicycle police patrols around the city in a bid to build confidence among tourists.The officers can speak many languages and hold master’s degrees, according to the National News Bureau of Thailand.
They will patrol popular tourist areas such as Wat Pra Singh, Chedi Luang and the old city, as well as the Night Bazaar and areas around Loy Kroh Road in the evenings.
The patrols will take place between 8am and midnight. The officers aim to provide security and help tourists, for example by giving directions or preventing them being overcharged for taxis or goods.
