Police Arrest Murder Suspect

CityNews – Police have arrested a man for the murder of a 50-year-old woman in her Chiang Mai apartment on Tuesday.Suspect, Wichupan Rattanarangsan, recreates the scene as is normal in Thai murder cases.
Wichupan Rattanarangsan, 27, was arrested at an apartment he had rented this week in Soi Wat Umong.
The victim, Suphatra Surarut, was looking after her two-year-old nephew when Wichupan allegedly entered the apartment in tambon Pa Daet and bludgeoned her to death with a blunt object.
He then dragged her body into the toilet before returning to strangle the infant, but was fought off by the child’s mother who had arrived at the scene. After a short scuffle he escaped, taking a gold necklace with him.
Police believed the assailant was someone known to the family, and after studying eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage they filed an arrest warrant for Wichupan.
When police arrested him, they also found the clothes he was allegedly wearing at the time of the attack, a mask, rubber gloves, brass knuckles, handcuffs and a six-inch knife.
Wichupan, from Lampang, admitted robbery and murder, and is now in police custody awaiting trial.
