Police Arrest Eight Suspected Loan Sharks

CityNews – Eight people have been arrested in a crackdown on loan sharks, police in Chiang Mai said yesterday.

Officials also seized four motorbikes, a car, three mobile phones and around 28,000 baht in cash.

The suspects said they were not involved with gangs, but claimed that they used to work as debt collectors for businessmen in central Thailand before going their own way and lending people money separately.

The eight suspects were taken to Mae Ping police station, and police said they will be prosecuted for running an illegal loans business.
