CityNews – Police in Chiang Rai yesterday said they had broken up a major drug trafficking ring, with 61 arrests across northern Thailand and assets valued at 100 million baht seized.

Officers pose with some of the arrested suspects.
Police General Pongpat Pongjaroen told reporters that the gang was run by Goyjeaw Sae-Tern and her family. The raids followed the arrest of a group of Thai drug dealers who were delivering yaba from Laos to central Thailand.

Arrests of family members and acquaintances were made in nine provinces, but most were in Chiang Rai. Police will examine the suspects’ communications and financial records for further evidence of drug trafficking.
