The Philippines is to open its first consulate for northern Thailand in Chiang Mai.
Led by Honorary Consul Agkarajit Phanomvan na Ayudhya, it will have consular jurisdiction over the provinces of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son, Nan, Phayao, Prae and Uttaradit.
The consulate will start performing duties in August, followed by courtesy calls to provincial governors. A site for the consular offices has been selected in Chiang Mai’s San Sai district, and it is expected to be open by October.
