New Governor Leads Merit-Making Ceremony Around Old City

CityNews – On 5th June, Suriya Prasartbandit, the new Chiang Mai Governor, along with Jao Duang Deun, chief of Chiang Mai’s Cultural Council, and Chiang Mai citizens, all attended a Buddhist merit-making ceremony.

The monks prayed and sermonized all together at the 10 different locations where it was held, including the Three Kings Monument, Tha Pae Gate, Chang Phueak Gate, Chiang Mai Gate, Chaenprung Gate, Suan Dok Gate and all four city corners.

Chiang Mai held the religious ceremony as it is believed to extend the life of the city, dispel bad spirits and bring good luck to the people of Chiang Mai.
