New Bicycle Police Patrols for Tourist Areas

CityNews – Chiang Mai police are to begin bicycle patrols in the old city and other tourist areas around the moat.They hope that, as well as reducing car and motorcycle use, the initiative will increase response times and boost confidence among tourists and locals.
The bicycle patrols will enable police to easily enter busy areas, such as the weekend Walking Street market, a spokesperson said.
Two bicycle patrols will be on the streets every day, from 8am to 4pm and 4pm to 12midnight. They will focus on the old city during the day then move towards Loy Kroh road and the Night Bazaar, where there are many tourists, in the evening.
