The business-to-business event at Mumbai’s Four Seasons Hotel was organised by the Thai consulate and the local office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), TravelBiz Monitor reported.

Representatives of 22 local hotels, travel agents and tourist attractions participated in the ‘Chiang Mai Night’, which also featured a cooking workshop for members of the media, traditional dancing, live folk music and kiosks offering street food, handmade umbrellas and Thai massages.

“This is the biggest delegation till date from Chiang Mai,” the director of the TAT’s Chiang Mai office, Wisoot Buachoom, was quoted as saying. “The city has a lot to offer Indian travellers. There are many activities for families, and a lot of options for team-building activities for MICE [Meetings, Incentives, Conferences/Conventions, Exhibitions], which makes it an ideal destination for both segments of travellers. Last year, Chiang Mai received 40,000 Indian arrivals. We expect a rise in the number this year.”
