CityNews – Police plan to display images of missing children, wanted people and stolen cars on digital billboards in Chiang Mai, in a bid to encourage public help. The initiative will soon be launched in Bangkok and then extended to Pattaya, Phuket, Hat Yai and Chiang Mai, according to the Bangkok Post.
Digital screens will display pictures of suspects wanted for car theft and images of stolen cars, along with licence plate numbers and other distinguishing features. The General Insurance Association often offers cash rewards for clues leading to arrests.
The displays will not infringe on anyone’s rights due to the fact they are aimed at serving the public interest and facilitating investigations, police said.
