Sanya Boongeng, aged 41, was nabbed outside his house in Nong Yae village after someone reported him. Police arrested him as he was pulling out of his driveway.
He is accused of wearing a police uniform with official police captain badges, and was also in possession of a radio without a licence and fake motor vehicle registration forms and plates.
The police also confiscated a BB-Gun, an I-COM IC-300C radio, the man’s Honda Jazz with fake licence plates, and a fake vehicle registration document.
Mr Sanya admitted to falsely wearing a police captain’s uniform, saying he wanted to go home to Phayao province but had no driver’s licence. He believed he would be able to pass through checkpoints unhindered if he dressed as a police officer.
