Staff at the Lee Garden Plaza Hotel in Hat Yai district called police and soldiers after they spotted the man behaving suspiciously, Khaosod reported.

Unemployed Noppadol Chanmueang, 33, was arrested when he could not produce an army ID card. He then admitted wearing the uniform to impress his girlfriend, saying he had bought it at an army barracks for 2,000 baht. He faces up to one year in prison for impersonating a security official.

According to Khaosod, it is not uncommon for Thai men to dress up as policemen or soldiers to please women who like a man in uniform.
